The Studio
A practice of listening.
I do not write words. I write weight — the pressure of a thought before it becomes a sentence, the moment a feeling decides to take a shape.
My work begins where language ends. Calligraphy, freed from meaning, becomes pure gesture: a body moving across a surface, leaving evidence. Gold is not decoration. It is the way light remembers what was here.
Born in Tunisia, working between Tunis and the Acadian coast of New Brunswick. My practice spans traditional Arabic calligraphy, abstract gold-leaf composition, and live gestural performance — the line as voice, the surface as memory. Active in the francophone and Acadian cultural milieu of Atlantic Canada since 2021.
Kayan is the long answer to a short question.
